UPMA 2021: Insects That Damage Wood

UPMA 2021 Spring Conference
Sprague Regional Entomologist, Dr. Richard Houseman will be speaking at UPMA 2021 Spring Conference for the session “Insect that Damage Wood”.
This session will examine the biology, behavior, monitoring and IPM strategies pest control professionals need to know for managing infestations of wood-destroying termites, ants, bees, and beetles.
Dr. Richard Houseman earned a BS degree in Biology-Science Education and a MS degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University. He earned his PhD in Entomology from Texas A&M University working with subterranean termites.
Dr. Houseman was a Professor of Entomology with tenure and the state urban entomology Cooperative Extension specialist at the University of Missouri from 2000-2017. His research program in Urban and Medical Entomology examined the behavioral, biological and spatial patterns of insect invasion into established neighborhoods. He was also a frequent speaker at pest management conferences and workshops. He worked closely with the Missouri Pest Management Association, Missouri Beekeepers Association, and other organizations to train and certify thousands of pest management professionals in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and other states.
Dr. Houseman and his wife live in Utah. They have been married over 30 years and are the parents of six children.
